Premium Bridal Alterations

A wedding gown is one of the most carefully constructed garments a woman will ever wear. Internal structure, delicate fabrics, considered finishing — these are not details that respond well to rushed handling or inexperienced hands.

I work with two specific situations. A gown that needs considered fit refinement, adjustments to internal shaping, silhouette, or finish that require the same level of care as the original construction.

And a vintage or heirloom gown that deserves a new life, redesigned thoughtfully, with respect for what it is and what it means to you.

I take a limited number of these commissions each season. Each is assessed individually before any work is agreed, and a minimum of four to five months before the occasion.

If you'd like to discuss your gown, the first step is an enquiry.

What refinement can include

Shoulder and strap adjustments. Bust and waist shaping. Internal reshaping where the structure needs it. Hemming. Bustle creation. The addition of design details where they're needed or wanted.Every assessment begins with the gown itself — what it is, how it's constructed, and what it needs. No two are the same.

Vintage bridal redesign

Some gowns carry too much meaning to be set aside. A mother's dress, a grandmother's gown, something that has waited years for the right moment and the right hands.

If you have a sentimental or heirloom gown you'd like thoughtfully reworked, these commissions are assessed individually and treated as custom level work. Redesign may involve reshaping the silhouette, modernising details, or repurposing elements into something entirely new.

If this is what you're looking for, mention it in your enquiry.

Assessment & investment

Every gown is reviewed during an in-studio appointment before any work is agreed.

A consultation fee of $125 applies and is credited toward your final invoice should you proceed.

Investment for premium bridal alterations begins from $1,200, reflecting the level of care and structural work involved. The final amount depends on the construction of your gown and the scope of work required.

Following your consultation you'll receive a clear outline of the work, timeline, and investment before anything begins.

A selection of bridal alteration and redesign work from the studio

From the time I spoke to Mel to initiate her services, to the exchange of the gowns she created, her service was impeccable. The value of her work is worth every cent, but most of all, the personalised experience she provided was priceless. My sister and I wore custom design dresses to my niece's wedding that captured the essence of elegance that could not be found in any store. Mel's craftmanship is uniquely exquisite, as is her service. We have booked in for another experience with Mel for Family Wedding # 2
