What to expect
It's so exciting that you have decided to look into have something beautiful made just for you. No matter the occasion, your custom piece will be designed, crafted, and finished with you in mind. So what can you expect during your custom made journey.
The pre-design conversation
The first step is a complimentary 15-minute call by phone or Zoom. This is your opportunity to ask any questions you have about the process, discuss your occasion and timeline, and establish whether moving forward to a Design Consultation feels right for both of us.
The design consultation
The Design Consultation is a 60-minute in-studio appointment at $195. This is where we build your brief — your event, the garment you have in mind, your instincts around silhouette, style, and fabric. From this conversation I develop your design direction and begin sourcing fabric options.
Design presentation
Once I have everything I need from our consultation, I get to work. I'll develop up to three design options for your piece — each one sketched to reflect the elements we discussed, with details suited to your shape, your style, and your occasion.
When I deliver these to you at your Design Presentation, each sketch is accompanied by a quote based on the work involved and the fabrications, if fabric has already been chosen.
Once you've chosen your design, I take your measurements — the foundation of everything that follows. Your contract and invoice are confirmed and we move forward together
Pattern development & toile
With your measurements taken and your design confirmed, I develop your block and pattern before moving into toile construction. A toile is a test garment — a working version of your piece made before we cut into the final fabric. Depending on the complexity of your design, there may be several toile fittings to refine the fit, proportion, and placement of every element.
This stage is one of the most important in the entire process. Every body is shaped differently, and a successful toile means the fit is right before the final fabric is touched. Fabrics are finalised and purchased at this stage.
Construction & Fittings
Once the toile is approved, construction of your garment in the final fabric begins. You will have a minimum of four fittings during this stage — the exact number depends on the complexity of the design and the timeline. Some details, such as internal corsetry, require their own construction sequence before work on the outer garment can continue.
Each fitting is focused on fit, proportion, and the refinement of details. You are guided through what is being assessed and adjusted at every appointment.
Final fitting & collection
Your final fitting is where every element of your piece comes together. The garment is pressed and ready — you try it on, every detail is inspected, and any final adjustments are noted and attended to before you collect it.
Your completed piece is steamed, hung in a dress bag, and ready for your occasion. I always suggest bringing your shoes and any accessories to this appointment — it's a good opportunity to see everything together before the day.
