A Vision in Pink: A Custom Mother of the Bride Gown for Melissa

Some projects stay with you long after the final stitch is sewn—and Melissa's custom gown is one of them.
Melissa, owner of the beloved women's boutique Ritz of Rosanna, came to me with a clear vision and a discerning eye. She was searching for a gown that felt bold, elegant, and unlike anything she could find off-the-rack. It needed to be one-of-a-kind—a dress worthy of her daughter’s wedding and a true reflection of her personal style.
The challenge?
Finding the exact shade of pink in a very specific fabric. And not just any fabric—Melissa had a dream for her mother of the bride gown, something with presence, texture, and luxury.
After an extensive search, we imported a luxury brocade from overseas in the perfect vibrant pink, detailed with fine gold metallic lines and a dotted design.
To complement it, we sourced a matching pink silk organza for the sleeves—soft, sheer, and just as exquisite.
The Design for the Mother of the Bride
With the fabric in hand, the design quickly took shape: a structured, fitted bodice with a flattering V-neckline, designed to balance Melissa’s silhouette whilst highlighting her natural waist. The skirt was panelled and flared in an A-line silhouette, with a high-low hemline that gave the dress movement and elegance without overwhelming the figure.
But the true pièce de résistance?
The sleeves.
Crafted from two layers of silk organza, they were meticulously shaped and hand-attached to create a softly scrunched, sculptural finish. This subtle but intentional detail added texture, lightness, and modern femininity to balance the richness of the brocade.
The entire gown was a celebration of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and shared vision. It was also a celebration of Melissa herself—a woman who knows fashion, appreciates quality, and wanted a dress that felt as special as the occasion it was made for.
